Cooplaf Leite Project receives the second round of nutritionalmanagement assistance

On August 1st, the Institute BioSistêmico(IBS) started the second round of nutritional management consultations of the Cooplaf Leite Project. During this month, the 100 properties that make up the project in the region of Terenos/MS will receive a visit from agronomist Thadeu Rincão, an IBS consultant who has been carrying out this nutritional management round.

Among the guidelines given to producers, Thadeu Rincão has reinforced the need to supply the herd with concentrated feed with 22% crude protein. “We are guiding producers to carry out dairy control by measuring the milk once a month and providing concentrated ration according to milk production”, says the agronomist.

In this round, soil samples that are being collected will be analyzed to assist producers in soil correction. “We have been talking with producers about choosing the right cultivar, which should be planted at the beginning of the rainy season, thinking about next year's drought”, explains the IBS consultant.

In the nutritional management services provided by IBS in the Cooplaf Leite Project, producers receive guidance from planting to handling the forage that can be ensiled, observing all the necessary care to ensure safe and quality food for the herd, in the next cycle of drought.

About the project

The Cooplaf Leite Project was conceived by the Instituto BioSistêmico with the main objective of promoting the development of dairy farming among the cooperative members of the Cooperativa Agrícola Mista da Pecuária de Corte e Leiteira and Agricultura Familiar (Cooplaf), an entity headquartered in the municipality of Terenos, in state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Center-West region of Brazil.

Executed by IBS, the initiative has the support of resources from the Zoetis Foundation and the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae) in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. It also receives institutional and academic support from Unimar – University of Marília.

This is another livestock project carried out by the Instituto BioSistêmico that uses the CheckMilk methodology, which has a platform with a management system and application for technical teams and producers. The system facilitates project management and the application helps the producer on a daily basis, as an extension of the IBS consultancy that can be accessed at any time in the palm of the hand.
